The Marker Riesling
Wine
Rosenthal The Marker Riesling pays homage to the quaint French tradition of using rose bushes to mark the end of vine rows. The roses, highly susceptible to powdery mildew, would act as an early indicator of disease in the vineyard.
The aim of the winemaking is to preserve the delicate flavours of the Riesling fruit. The grapes are handpicked and whole bunch pressed to avoid the extraction of harsh phenolics.
After cold settling, the juice is racked and fermented with natural yeasts. The temperature is kept consistent, typically at around 15°C.
Brilliant pale straw, Rosenthal The Marker Riesling has intense citrus and green apple flavours, with a talc like structure and a crisp, flinty finish. Cellaring potential is six years.
